La Cité francophone va présenter la musique des artistes principalement locaux chaque jeudi cet été pour la neuvième année. If you didn’t catch that, it was probably broken French anyway. But Edmonton’s French Quarter is bringing back a patio, sweet treats and ambience for a ninth year starting Thursday until Dec. 3. A ticket to La Cité francophone’s patio concert series is $15 per person. Each concert runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with full food service available by nearby Café Bicyclette. It’s the concert’s fourth year being sponsored by Servus Credit Union. “It really is an opportunity to showcase, highlight and share our incredible wealth of musicians and talent here in Edmonton and area,” said cultural and festival co-ordinator for the centre, Allen Jacobson. “We are blessed to have one of the best patios … It’s set up almost as a small amphitheater with a lot of space, a green area, it’s almost like a little folk festival hill up there.” Edmonton’s less-than-desirable spring/summer weather as of late means the group is prepared to move the scenic outdoor event into the banquet halls to avoid the rain. “We’re prepared for anything. We’ve not stopped in nine years.” La Cité francophone provides language services to the public at large, working to introduce all Edmontonians to French art, music and culture.
