A person was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in west Edmonton. At around 3:15 a.m., police say a black BMW was travelling south on 142 Street close to 90 Avenue when the driver lost control of the car. The BMW went off the road and hit a tree. The driver was declared dead on scene. No one else was in the car. Police believe speed was a factor in the collision. The investigation shut down 142 Street between 87 Avenue and 91 Avenue for several hours. It was reopened at about 11:30 a.m. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
