Covenant Health held a career fair on Tuesday for high school students interested in a career in health care. More than 20 health professions were represented at the fair at the Stelmach Community Health Centre, as well as four post-secondary institutions. A Covenant Health spokesperson said an important message for attendees is that some careers in health care do not require a university degree. “There’s more to health-care careers than just doctors or nurses, and everyone’s journey can be different,” Shae Abba said. “We have positions that require certificates, diplomas, degrees, and we have a job shadow program that can help introduce high school students to careers within health care.” Abba says Covenant Health alone has more than 150 types of jobs available. About 500 students registered to attend the event.
