Extortion charges laid against man wanted on Canada-wide warrant for Parkland County shootings

RCMP have laid charges in an extortion and shootings investigation that began in Parkland County and spread across the country.

One man is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant in connection with an extortion investigation of shootings targeting the South Asian community that began in Parkland County but has since expanded to include violent incidents across the country.

RCMP first responded to reports of shootings at a home near Spring Meadows Estate on Oct. 31 and Nov. 6, 2025. No one was injured in the first two shootings, and investigators learned the victims were being threatened for millions of dollars.

Jagdeep Singh, 24, is facing charges involving extortion and firearm offences. He was originally arrested on Nov. 17 in Red Deer and released into the custody of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

The CBSA says Singh escaped custody in Calgary during a medical assessment.

Singh is now wanted on a Canada-wide warrant by RCMP as well as on a Canada-wide immigration warrant by the CBSA.

RCMP said they had seized a firearm during a search related to Singh, which was linked to seven shootings across the country unrelated to the Parkland County incidents.

“We definitely believe it’s part of an organized crime,” said Parkland RCMP Cpl. Mitch Rondeau.

Edmonton police arrested two others they believe to be part of the same crime group for weapons offences in the middle of February. Police say they are not related to the Parkland County extortions but do remain in custody.

“They are well known to one another, and it’s one investigation that spread into other offences and locations across the country,” Rondeau said.

Police say they continue to investigate and have shared evidence of shootings in other jurisdictions with organizations in B.C., Ontario and other parts of Alberta.

On Friday, B.C. RCMP announced they had laid charges against three men, one of whom is the at-large Singh, in connection with an extortion series in Surrey.

Both Alberta and B.C. RCMP have asked for public assistance in finding Singh.
