The city is ending Phase 1 of a parking ban after Edmonton saw around 20 cm of snow over the last week. The ban will conclude Monday at 7 a.m. Parking bans are required to clear snow and ice accumulation from arterial and collector roads, bus routes and roads within business improvement areas. A Phase 2 parking ban for residential and industrial roads will not be activated, said a statement from the city. Crews will continue to maintain roads and apply traction materials. Windrows are being assessed in Edmonton’s 634 school zones. Those with large windrows will see heavy equipment stack and remove snow daily from Dec. 22 to Jan. 4. Street parking in these areas is prohibited while crews are working and will be marked accordingly.
