Families got an egg-citing start to the day with a free Easter event at the John Walter Museum. An egg hunt, live music, crafts and games were set against the backdrop of the museum, which features a glimpse into Edmonton’s pioneer past and what life was like in the Walterdale community from 1870 to 1942. “It’s important to bring the community together … (and) have lovely community interactions, get outside, (and) enjoy the weather even if it’s a little bit chilly,” City of Edmonton program coordinator Kae Stinnissen said Monday. Kids got to run around in the snow looking for colourful eggs hidden all around the grounds, and exchange them for small prizes. The museum also opened up the three historic homes on site for the annual egg hunt this year, for those looking to take a break from the cold weather. Indoor activities included wool carding, a chicken scavenger hunt and free tours. The family-friendly event is open until 4 p.m. Monday.
