STARS Air Ambulance was dispatched to the Warburg, Alta., area on Tuesday after a 13-year-old boy came in contact with an electrical wire from a downed power line. RCMP say the call came in at 2:46 p.m. from the area of Highway 39 and Range Road 32. Alberta Health Services said he was transported to the Stollery Children’s Hospital by STARS in critical condition. According to Fortis Alberta, an unplanned power outage in the area started at 2:29 p.m. In a statement Tuesday evening, the company said a “third-party contact with a powerline had occurred and a member of the public had been injured.” “Fortis Alberta is working with local authorities as they complete their investigations into this serious incident,” the statement to CTV News Edmonton read. Fortis said 57 customers were impacted. Occupational Health and Safety is also investigating. “OHS is investigating an incident that took place on a work site in Leduc County on Aug. 26, 2025,” a spokesperson for the ministry of jobs, economy, trade and immigration said in an email to CTV News Edmonton on Wednesday. “A person was injured after being struck by a falling power line.”
