3rd earthquake felt north of Edmonton since start of month

The cause of an earthquake in the Gibbons area Wednesday evening is under investigation.

The quake was recorded roughly 15 kilometres northwest of Gibbons, near the location of an April 1 4.5-magnitude earthquake that has been confirmed to be industry related.

Wednesday’s earthquake was rated a 3.7 magnitude and is suspected of being industry related, according to Earthquakes Canada.

It is the third earthquake recorded in the area since the start of April. A 3.2-magnitude earthquake was recorded about 10 kilometres north of Gibbons on April 3, also suspected to be related to industry.
