Edmonton welcomed its newest members to the force with the graduation of 19 Community Peace Officers. The Community Peace Officer Induction Program graduation ceremony was held on Thursday at City Hall. The graduates will branch off into various roles, including work as Transit Peace Officers, and at other organizations, like MacEwan University and Covenant Health. Some will serve other municipalities like Vermillion River and Grande Prairie. “Peace Officers are vital to ensuring safety across our downtown and transit system,” Edmonton Mayor Andrew Knack said in a news release. “Their dedication helps Edmontonians enjoy public spaces and build stronger communities.” The new Peace Officers completed a seven-week training program that was a combination of classroom studies and field training.
