A 16-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a stabbing at Jasper Place High School on Friday. The teen, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, and criminal harassment. Police responded to the school at 11:58 a.m. on Friday. According to a news release, the suspect had confronted another 16-year-old boy about a verbal fight that happened earlier in the day. The victim tried to walk away when he was stabbed. Several other students tried to restrain the suspect, but he was able to break free and leave the school. The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He has since been released and is recovering at home. The school and nearby St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School were placed on lockdown because of the stabbing.
