Kamil Karamali

Kamil Karamali is a Weekend Correspondent for CTV National News, based in Toronto.

Kamil is a graduate of the journalism program at BCIT and started his career as a reporter and anchor for CFTK-TV in Northern B.C. Moving to Ottawa in 2013, he worked for CBC as a video-journalist, radio reporter and web writer. He returned to Vancouver in 2015 before starting as a weekend correspondent for CTV National News in Toronto.

Career highlights include an exclusive on human smuggling across the St. Lawrence River and the aftermath of the Parliament Hill terrorist attack. Kamil has been twice awarded the RTDNA Canada's Byron MacGregor Award for best radio newscast in a large market. Once for national breaking news coverage of a 4.8 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Vancouver Island in 2016; and again the next year for the federal approval and protests of the Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion.

Kamil has also worked for Aga Khan Development Network in Pakistan, Mozambique, and Tanzania; shooting and editing videos on some of the not-for-profit's charity work in rural regions.

Born in Karachi, Pakistan, Kamil loves surfing, scuba-diving, snowboarding and climbing mountains whenever he can. He summited Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania for his 30th birthday.
