A British Columbia woman needs help finding the diamond ring she accidentally gave to a man along with her spare change.

Trinda Gajek of Salt Spring Island, says she saw a man who looked to be down on his luck in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island on Wednesday. She asked the man if he needed some money and then gave him all the spare change in her wallet.

“He wasn’t busking, he wasn’t asking me for money, I just offered it over,” Gajek told CTV Vancouver Island.

It wasn’t until later that she remembered her diamond ring had also been in her wallet. Gajek is convinced she accidentally gave the man the ring.

“It’s a ring I wear every day,” she said. “It has sentimental value, for sure.”

“This person didn’t take the ring, he didn’t steal the ring,” Gajek added. “This is just one of those situations and I sure would like to get the ring back.”

Anyone with information on the ring’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Nanaimo Salvation Army or call Gajek directly at (250) 538-8061.
