It may be the dead of winter, but that hasn't stopped flowers from popping up in Doris Hanna's garden.
Friends and family members have banded together to grant the 73-year-old Nova Scotia woman, who's battling cancer, a simple wish.
Hanna's daughter said her mother was recently gazing out of her living room window of her Upper Onslow, N.S home and mentioned it would be nice if she had some flowers to look at.
"My sister said come hell or high water she would try to make that happen," Sabine Pace told CTV Atlantic.
It began with some spray paint and a few plastic rosebuds. But over recent days Hanna's garden has blossomed as more and more flowers have shown up on her doorstep and in her garden.
A bouquet from as far as Prince Edward Island has been delivered to Hanna's home and friends and family who don't live in the area have been posting photos of flowers online in hopes of brightening Hanna's day.
"I just did it to make mom happy," Hanna's daughter Michelle Thrower said. "Just to see her smile."
Hanna has only seen photos of the flower garden so far.
Her daughters say she hasn't made it out of bed over the last few days, but they're hoping she can see the flowers for herself soon.
Both Thrower and Pace say the outpouring of support during a difficult time is heartwarming.
"She always said, you get what you put out there, and this is certainly an example of that," Pace added.
