A roadway in Tottenham, Ont. has been reopened after a tractor-trailer smashed into two buildings on Thursday morning.

The area of Queen and Main Streets was closed for several hours following the collision, which happened around 11 a.m.

Officers said the truck was travelling north when it veered across the southbound lanes and onto the sidewalk. It crashed into a real estate office, post office, several lamp posts, signs and mail boxes before coming to rest part way through the wall of a convenience store.

The building also has apartments on the second floor, which have been evacuated for safety reasons.

Police say the driver has minor injuries, but no one else was hurt in the crash.

The cause of the crash is not yet known, but the Ministry of Transportation has been called in to investigate whether there was a mechanical failure in the truck.
