A military building at Canadian Forces Base North Bay has been partially evacuated following the discovery of a suspicious package, CTV News has learned.

The package, a bag containing an unknown substance, was found Monday morning in a men’s washroom on the building’s main floor.

Military police, as well as local police and firefighters, arrived on scene.

The suspicious item was removed from the building and operations at the base returned to normal on Monday afternoon, reported local paper the North Bay Nugget.

CFB North Bay, also known as 22 Wing North Bay, is located about 360 kilometres west of Ottawa. The air force base is home to a Cold War-era underground complex belonging to NORAD, the North American Aerospace Defense Command.
