An inmate serving a life sentence for second-degree murder is back in custody after escaping from a minimum security prison unit in Kingston, Ont.

Ontario Provincial Police captured Cale David Presnail in Kingston’s City Park around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, police said. He was arrested without incident and will be handed over to correctional services, police said.

Before his escape, Presnail was last seen around 5.p.m on Monday at the minimum security unit of the Collins Bay Institution, police said. Staff realized he was missing during a 9 p.m. head count.

The OPP say Presnail was convicted of second degree murder in 1998.

Police learned of Presnail’s location from a phone tip.
