Breaching humpback whales surprise -- and splash -- B.C. kayakers

A group of kayakers in British Columbia is heading to dry land with a whale of a tale.

Paddling in the pristine waters off the province’s Penn Islands on Aug. 10, the kayakers happily watched as a humpback whale nursed her calf for roughly 30 minutes. After the whales dive, the calf breaches and is then followed by its massive mother.

Imagine the paddlers’ delight!
