5 more women come forward in online dating sexual assault investigation

A total of nine women have now come forward to say they were sexually assaulted by the same man, who they met on a dating app.

Five more women have come forward in an online dating sexual assault investigation, bringing the total number of victims to nine.

Edmonton police received a report of a sexual assault in April 2025 involving a woman who had met a man through a dating app.

It was reported that the woman communicated with the man through online dating platforms such as Facebook Dating, Bumble and Tinder.

The woman was later invited to the man’s home where investigators believe she was drugged and sexually assaulted by the man.

William McMullin, 56, was arrested on March 17 and faces multiple charges. Police say at the time of his arrest, they confirmed four other victims.

Five more women came forward following a news release issued on March 25, resulting in additional 10 charges being laid against McMullin, including sexual assault, administering a stupefying substance, assault with a weapon, voyeurism, assault, mischief under $5,000, intimidation, unlawful confinement, and criminal harrassment.

Police believe McMullin may have offended in Calgary and Edmonton.

“We know that coming forward can take immense courage, and for many people, it may take time,” said Sgt. Brian McGuigan in a statement Wednesday. “We encourage anyone with information, no matter how long ago the incident occurred, to reach out.”

McMullin currently remains in remand. His next court date is scheduled for May 22.
