Wranglers end season on a Rocky Mountain high with sweep of Eagles in Colorado

The Hitmen in AHL action Friday afternoon against the Colorado Eagles at the Saddledome in Calgary.

The Calgary Wranglers fell behind early, then roared back to defeat the Colorado Eagles Saturday night.

In the first period, it was all Eagles as the club built a 3-0 lead on goals from Gavin Brindley, Luke Toporowski and Jacob MacDonald.

Fourteen seconds into the second, the Eagles got another one from T.J. Hughes to build their lead to 4-0.

The Wranglers pushed back, getting three goals from Brennan Ohmann, Danil Miromanov and Nick Cicek to cut the lead to 4-3.

After Colorado went up 5-3 on a goal from Ronnie Attard, the Wranglers bounced back again, getting a goal from Clark Bishop to make the score 5-4 after two.

In the third, Parker Bell fired one in to tie it and then Martin Frk scored to put the Wranglers up a goal.

With the Eagle net empty, Frk scored again, giving him 30 on the season.

Arsenii Sergeev, fresh off winning his first NHL start with the Flames, stopped 31 shots to pick up the win for the Wranglers, who finished the season 23-34-10-5.
