With the holiday season now here, the Helen Schuler Nature Centre has launched two new exhibits. Winter Wild Neighbours will teach visitors about the wildlife that share our cities, parks and backyards through interactive activities and displays. And the Power of Play exhibit offers hands-on activities that inspire creativity and imagination. The Helen Schuler Nature Centre has also extended its hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the holidays, so visitors are more easily able to take in the new attractions. “The holidays are a really busy time here,” said Jessica Deacon-Rogers, Helen Schuler Nature Centre education programming co-ordinator. “We often have families coming down, and they’re looking to spend time together and visit outside of the house, so they’re looking for some different opportunities, and this is a great opportunity. “There are the different exhibits, there are the activities in the community room, you can go for a walk on the trails. … If you have a large group of people, you could do all kinds of things.” Throughout the holidays, the Helen Schuler Nature Centre will also run additional programming and outdoor activities for visitors. The extended hours of operation will be in effect from Dec. 23 through Jan. 3. The doors will be locked, however, on Dec. 25 and 26, as well as Jan. 1.
