A truck driver was waiting for a green light in southeast Calgary when it sunk in: the rig was ablaze. Calgary Fire said the driver tried to get out, but the door would not open. The driver scrambled across the seats, escaping through the passenger door. Tuesday’s ordeal occurred shortly after noon, at the intersection of 17 Avenue and 42 Street S.E. No one was injured. Firefighters called in a hazmat team to deal with leaking fuel, a substantial amount of which went down a storm drain. Alberta Environment has been notified, Calgary Fire says. Investigation into what exactly happened remains ongoing.
