Calgarians met Wednesday night to discuss development ideas for the area around Westbrook LRT station. A town hall meeting invited people to share ideas about what they would like to see in the vacant land near the CTrain station. The City of Calgary says it will build new housing, parks, community spaces and transit connections in the area. This is the first town hall in the planning stage. The city expects construction to happen in 2029. “Most people are really excited. The site is currently vacant, so to see development materialized here (is exciting),” said Mike Carnegie with the City of Calgary. “A lot of the comments are, ‘What would the density look like? What would the built form be? How many units? What would the public park look like?’” The city is holding a virtual open house on June 24.
