It’s getting late early in the 2026 season for the Calgary Surge after the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) team dropped a 92-72 decision to the Sea Bears Friday night in Winnipeg. The newest Sea Bear, Isiah Osborne, came out gunning, making a three-point play to start the night and kept it going all night, racking up 24 points and adding five rebounds. The Sea Bears got hot late in the third, jumping to a 70-62 lead, and were ahead 82-68 going into target score time. Teddy Allen led all Sea Bears with 25 points, while Trey McGowens chipped in with 14. The loss dropped the Surge to 0-9 on the season, as the club, which made it to the CEBL championship game two years in a row, continues to struggle. Javonte Brown scored 15 and added 12 rebounds and an assist and was named player of the game for the Surge. Sean Rugzy Miller-Moore led Calgary with 17 points, while Evan Gilyard II contributed 15. The two clubs meet again Sunday at WinSport. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
