Calgary Wild FC fans filed into McMahon Stadium Sunday excited to finally see their team in action. The Wild hosting the Ottawa Rapid. There was a party in the McMahon Stadium parking lot as fans got into the spirit for this very first game. Wild FC played their first three games on the road so fans were itching to see them in person. They are also very excited that Calgary finally has a women’s professional soccer team. “I think it’s fantastic. I’m so excited to have women’s soccer coming to Calgary,” said Jennifer Hamilton. “I’m a fan already and I haven’t even been to a game yet.” “It’s really awesome that we finally have a women’s professional soccer team in Calgary,” says Barbara Baylor. “I think it’s awesome. It’s a great opportunity and very inspiring for young soccer players - especially girls to have that role model and path forward,” says Patience Schiebelbein. “I think it’s really good energy we have going already and I’m really excited,” says Jasmine Baylor. The Wild are off to a 1-2 start to the season. They lost in Vancouver, picked up their first victory in Halifax and then lost to Toronto.
