Prentice enters Alberta PC Party Leadership race

CTV Calgary: Prentice enters PC race Two candidates have paid their initial fee and are beginning to collect signatures. Chris Epp reports on the leadership bid.

Former cabinet minister and MP for Calgary Centre-North Jim Prentice has picked up his nomination papers for the Alberta PC Party's top job.

Prentice first hinted at his intentions on twitter by saying it was ‘going to be a good day’ and then picked up his nomination package at the PCAA Calgary office on Thursday morning.

Justice Minister, Jonathan Denis announced earlier this week that he will not run for the job and says he will support Prentice in his bid for the leadership.

Prentice also has the nod from Calgary-West MLA Ken Hughes, who also decided not to pursue the position.

Ric McIver, MLA for Calgary-Hays and former Albert Transportation Minister is also taking a run at the leadership.

The leadership nominations officially opened on Thursday and close on May 30th.

PC Party members will have a chance to meet all of the candidates at an event on June 2 in Edmonton.
