A daycare centre in northwest Calgary is slated to reopen next week, one month after it shuttered due to a licensing problem. The Wee Wild Ones facility at University Innovation Quarter was temporarily shuttered on Aug. 27 after its vice president said its operation license expired amid paperwork issues. The closure led many parents scrambling to arrange last-minute care for their children. Some had previously told CTV News they had to ask family to drive in from out of province or took financial hits by staying home from work. The province told parents last week the closure would be a longer term as the daycare had given the provincial childcare licensing team “forged documentation, which is why their license was not renewed.” “To be clear, this was not a clerical or administrative error that can easily be resolved,” the province said in its note to parents. On Tuesday, Alberta’s Education and Childcare Minister Demetrios Nicolaides told CTV in a statement the Wee Wild Ones location will reopen under a new board of directors on Sept. 28.
