New research framework unveiled for University of Lethbridge

The University of Lethbridge is already among the top-ranked research-intensive universities in the country.

Its administration has now introduced a new framework to help researchers generate ideas.

That framework is known as the Research and Creative Activities Plan, developed as part of the U of L’s strategic plan creation.

This framework was a collaborative effort between students, faculty, community members and others.

The four focus areas are foundations, ideas, systems and places.

The goal is for the work done at the U of L to have a real impact on the community.

“Foundations, ideas, places and systems reflect the many different ways that researchers engage in the questions, how they come up with their ideas, how they bring students into their research and how they really partner with outside agencies (and) communities to make an impact through those ideas,” Dena McMartin, U of L vice-president of research, told media Tuesday.

In a news release, McMartin also said she’s proud of the work that went into the framework.

“I believe it reflects who we are and who we aspire to be,” McMartin said.

“This will guide our efforts going forward, and having been through this process, I know how excited our researchers and our communities are for where our curiosity will take us.”
