A new Calgary-created digital exhibit combining math and art is coming to the Telus Spark Science Centre. Impossible Geometrics is available for viewing at the Spark’s 3,000 square-foot digital immersion gallery starting Saturday. While suitable for any age, the interactive experience is designed with kids age 6 to 12 in mind. It lets visitors step into a world where circles have ideas and lines misbehave. “Floor-to-ceiling projection, handmade stop-motion animation, original music and creative coding turn art and mathematical ideas into environments visitors can see, hear and explore,” Telus Spark said in a news release. Impossible Geometries was created by Calgary’s Axis-Z Media Arts and co-produced by the Telus Spark Co-creator Laura Anzola says it took almost a year and a half to develop. “We really considered something fun that could be interactive as well — so they can learn something but also that it could be playful.” The digital show runs on a continuous 40-minute loop.
