Man arrested at CTrain station was in possession of drugs, weapons: Calgary police

A Calgary man is facing charges after allegedly boarding a CTrain with drugs and weapons.

Police say the arrest was made on Feb. 27 as officers and peace officers executed a co-ordinated fare‑enforcement initiative at the Rundle CTrain platform.

Police allege the accused presented an expired transfer and a fake name.

He was arrested for obstruction and found to have 11 outstanding warrants.

When arrested, police say the accused was in possession of:

• 3.9 grams of suspected crack cocaine;
• $185 in cash;
• A digital scale;
• Small plastic baggies;
• A collapsible baton;
• A folding box cutter;
• A can of bear spray; and,
• Two unopened cartons of unstamped cigarettes.

The accused, a 32-year-old, is charged with drugs and weapons-related offences and a fare-evasion offence.

“This arrest reflects the strength of our integrated response with the Calgary Police Service,” said Insp. Rachael Deakin, City of Calgary transit public safety, in a news release.
