Lanterns light up Friday night in Calgary’s Chinatown

Thousands of Calgarians visited Chinatown Friday as the community celebrated its fourth annual Lantern Festival.

Calgary Chinatown was all lit up Friday night, thanks to the return of the Lantern Festival, an ancient tradition that marks unity, renewal -- and light.

It was fourth edition of the annual event, hosted by the Chinatown Business Improvement Area (BIA).

That meant lights, lanterns, performers and plenty of food were available on a beautiful September night, prompting thousands to come out.
