The Calgary Fire Department is urging everyone to make sure they have working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms inside their homes. As part of Fire Prevention Week, the CFD is partnering with ATCO Gas. Thursday night, they went door-to-door at a condo complex checking for smoke and CO detectors. They happily replaced old ones, while educating residents that smoke alarms need to be replaced every 10 years, and batteries swapped out every year. As for carbon monoxide alarms, it’s ideal to have one on every level in your home.
