Hand-foot-and-mouth disease briefly shutters Calgary Soccer Centre

Suspected cases of hand-foot-and-mouth disease forced the Calgary Soccer Centre to close on Tuesday.

The city says the facility was closed as a precaution following reports of the disease among “a few children” attending a day camp.

Alberta Health Services was contacted, and enhanced cleaning measures were completed throughout the building.

All indoor soccer games and field rentals were cancelled on Tuesday night.

The centre has reopened, and the city has apologized for any inconvenience that was caused.
