First-degree murder charges laid in Lethbridge apartment death

Two men are facing first-degree murder charges in connection with a 27-year-old man's death in Lethbridge. It's the first homicide of the year for the city.

Police say two men are facing charges in connection with the death of a man at a south Lethbridge apartment complex.

Emergency crews were called to the building, located in the 200 block of 7A Avenue South, at 6:30 a.m. on Friday for reports of an assault.

They arrived to find a 27-year-old man unresponsive inside one of the units.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrested two suspects the following day.

Investigators say the incident appears to be targeted and both the victim and the accused knew each other.

Darcy Andrew Medicine Crane, 43, and Jordan Frank North Peigan, 27, both of Lethbridge, each face one count of first-degree murder.

Both men remain in police custody.
