Here’s a look at what’s open and what’s closed in Calgary over the Easter long weekend… Calgary Transit Calgary Transit says buses, CTrains and On Demand service will operate with a Sunday level of service on Good Friday (April 3). The Red Line will be closed between Lions Park and Dalhousie stations from Good Friday until the start of service on Easter Monday (April 6). Shuttles will provide replacement service between Lions Park and Dalhousie stations, and stations in between. For information on fares, schedules and service changes, you can visit calgarytransit.com. Calgary parking There will be free parking in on-street ParkPlus zones on Good Friday and Easter Monday. Weekend rates apply at all Calgary Parking parkades and surface lots. Regular parking rates will be in effect at partner lots such as the Calgary Stampede, Telus Spark, Calgary Zoo and Heritage Park. Landfills All three Calgary landfills will be open on Good Friday. The East Calgary Landfill will be open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Spyhill Landfill and Shepard Landfill will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Easter Sunday, the Spyhill and Shepard landfills will be closed, but the East Calgary Landfill will be open from 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. All three landfills will be open on Easter Monday. The East Calgary Landfill will be open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Spyhill Landfill and Shepard Landfill will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Calgary recreation centres Indoor pools, fitness centres and arenas will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, but will be open during regular hours on Saturday and Monday. Exceptions include the Rose Kohn/Jimmie Condon Arena, which will offer free ice skating from 1 – 2:15 p.m. on Easter Sunday. In addition, Joseph Kryczka Arena at Southland Leisure Centre will offer paid skating on Good Friday and Easter Sunday from 1-2:15 p.m. There will be free swimming from 1 - 2:30 p.m. and 3 - 4:30 p.m. on Easter Sunday at the following locations: Leisure centres Village Square Leisure Centre hours are listed on the City of Calgary’s website. The facility will have paid public swimming from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Good Friday and Easter Monday. Southland Leisure Centre hours are listed on the City of Calgary’s website. The facility will have paid public swimming from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Good Friday and Easter Monday. Devonian gardens Devonian Gardens, located in the CORE Shopping Centre, is open from 12-5 p.m. on Good Friday, from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Saturday, closed on Easter Sunday and open from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Easter Monday. City of Calgary art centres The Wildflower Arts Centre and North Mount Pleasant Arts Centre will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Heritage Park Gasoline Alley Museum is open from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Good Friday, Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. Telus Spark The Telus Spark is open from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Good Friday and then from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Saturday, Easter Sunday and Monday. The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo The zoo is open from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. with the last admission at 4 p.m. for non-members and 5 p.m. for members.
