Downtown Calgary’s ‘HAT @ NINTH’ office conversion project ‘now welcoming residents’

Downtown Calgary has 108 new rental suites “now welcoming residents” at the HAT @ NINTH.

The converted office building is located at 205 9 Ave. S.E.

The mayor, in a release issued Friday, called it an example of “turning Calgary’s challenges into opportunities.”

“We’re breathing new life and safety into downtown,” Jeromy Farkas said.

“And building a vibrant community in the heart of our city’s arts and culture district.

“This is the future of Calgary: innovative partnerships, more homes that Calgarians can afford and a safe, thriving downtown.”

According to Friday’s release, the building was originally the Natural Resources Building, built in 1966.

Unique architectural elements of the building have been preserved, the city said.

In the release, developer Cidex Group expressed its excitement to be involved in the project.

“Downtowns are truly the heartbeat of any city,” said Sarah Itani, Cidex Group vice-president of development.

“As a native Calgarian, I am so excited to be part of the incredible transformation underway downtown.”

HAT @ NINTH is the seventh office conversion project completed.

The city says 21 are currently being supported by the Downtown Calgary Development Incentive.
