Cavalry FC are hoping good things come in threes. After home victories over Forge FC and Ottawa Atletico on their most recent homestand, the club looks to make it three in a row Saturday when they take on Vancouver FC at ATCO Field. Cavalry FC trail Forge FC by one point in the standings. Even though Vancouver is 13 points back, the club knows they can’t take them lightly. “They have a couple of key attacking players, so they’ll definitely have a good attack,” said Nathaniel Edwards. “But at the same time so do we.. I’m not really focused on them. “I feel like when it’s at home it’s always in our hands so I’m just focused on us and I’m excited to see how the game plays out tomorrow.” Head coach Tommy Wheeldon Jr. said it’s important not to take any opponent for granted. “We bring out everybody’s best.. but I’d rather that,” Wheeldon said. “I think I’d rather teams come in and give it their best rather than teams roll over and bring a weaker side to focus on a different game.. “We’ve earned that respect--so pressure is a privilege and we have to walk that walk.” As far as Cavalry’s bid to win the CPL Shield, Wheeldon said the club has been firing on all cylinders this season. “Reality is, we weren’t in the conversation for the shield at this point last year,” he said. “We had to reflect, renew, and freshen up ahead of this season.
