Canada Strong pass returns, offering free entry to national parks and other discounts

The Canada Strong pass returns for the summer starting Friday and running through Sept. 7.

The Canada Strong pass has returned, which means Canadians won’t have to pay to get into a national park or national historic site this summer.

There are also discounts available for museums, and on overnight camping fees and VIA Rail tickets.

Alberta is participating in the program, which means free admission to all provincial museums and historic sites for anyone 17 and under, and 50 per cent off for those aged 18 to 24.

“Alberta’s museums and historic sites bring history to life. Through the Canada Strong Pass, our government is making it easier than ever for families and young people to explore Alberta’s heritage and celebrate exactly what makes our province so special,” said Alberta Tourism and Sport Minister Andrew Boitchenko in a media release.

There is no physical or digital pass that visitors need to present. Savings will be automatically applied to eligible guests through Sept. 7.

“Museums allow us to discover what brings us together: our history, our creativity, our perspectives and the stories that shape Canada. With the Canada Strong pass, even more Canadians will be able to enjoy cultural experiences across the country, while saving money,” said Marc Miller, the federal minister of Canadian identity and culture and the Minister responsible for official languages.
