The rest of the work week will be warm with daytime highs in Calgary expected to sit three-to-six degrees above average. Overnight temperatures are also warmer than typical for this time of year; the average low in Calgary is 3 C, but the lows from Wednesday to Friday will be between 6 and 11 C. Outside of the city – especially along the foothills – there is a slight risk of frost for the next couple of mornings. By the weekend it will be a totally different story. A low-pressure system will move from the northeast Pacific basin toward the southern B.C. coastline, before tracking east over the Rockies. Starting Friday, strong wind, cooler air and precipitation will impact southern British Columbia and central and southern Alberta. The daytime high in Calgary on Saturday will be 10 C colder than on Friday, and overnight lows in the city will sit around 3 C. Pockets of heavier rain will fall along the Highway 3 corridor between Alberta and B.C., and also north of Calgary. Mixed precipitation is likely in the higher elevations, with light and scattered showers possible in Calgary. That rain will track north and east across Alberta early Saturday with scattered and mixed precipitation likely across a larger portion of southern British Columbia – but again, mainly in the higher elevations. Daytime highs will start to moderate again by Monday, with temperatures forecast to reach the mid-teens in Calgary.
