Thursday will be warm, with daytime highs in the mid-20s across southern Alberta. This will be the coolest day until Monday. There is a chance of increasing instability in central and southern Alberta later Thursday, with showers and thunderstorms potentially forming along the foothills early in the afternoon and reaching the QEII and Highway 2 corridor by mid-afternoon. If these thunderstorms do form, they will be short-lived, with the greatest threats including large-sized hail, pockets of intense rain and damaging wind. The start of this weekend will be warm across the region with daytime highs reaching the high 20s to low 30s in Alberta and the low to mid-30s across most of southern British Columbia. Rain is forecast for portions of southern B.C. over the weekend and will likely also include more lightning and strong wind. Some of that precipitation might impact southern Alberta, but the bulk will likely fall west of Calgary. Temperatures will return to more seasonal values in Calgary starting Monday and continue for most of next week.
