The Calgary Surge found a way again Tuesday night, keeping their playoff hopes alive with a 93-86 victory over the Vancouver Bandits. The Surge were led by 18 points from Sean Rugzy Miller-Moore. They also got 16 from Armani Chaney, 14 from David Joplin and 13 Mathieu Kamba, and a game-winning three-pointer from Marlon Johnson Jr. The win improved Calgary’s record to 6-14, moving them to within a pair of the fourth-place Edmonton Stingers, who lost 96-94 to the third-place Saskatoon Mambas Tuesday night. That sets the stage for a weekend home-and-home Canadian Elite Basketball League-style “Battle of Alberta” between the Stingers and the Surge, who have dug themselves out of a horrific 1-13 start to the season to sit on the cusp of playoff contention with four games remaining in the regular season. Calgary has won four of its past five while the Stingers have lost five of six. Edmonton won the first two times the two teams played this season, so it’s pretty much a must-win weekend for the Surge if they hope to make it to the 2026 CEBL post-season. Game time Friday night at WinSport is 7:30 p.m.
