Calgary celebrates Olympic hockey win as Canada pushes through to gold medal game

Happy hockey fans celebrated Canada's semi-final victory over Finland Friday, propelling them to a gold medal showdown against the U.S. Sunday at 6 a.m.

Canada will be playing for gold in men’s hockey at the Olympics.

Calgary fans erupted in Trolley 5 on 17 Avenue when Nathan MacKinnon scored the winning goal with just 35 seconds left in their semi-final game against Finland.

The goal gave the Canadians a 3-2 victory, setting up a gold medal clash with Team U.S.A.

The bar says 700 people have already reserved a seat for Sunday’s gold medal game, which kicks off at 6 a.m.

The last time the Canadian men won gold in hockey was in 2014, when Jonathan Toews scored the winning goal in a 3-0 win over Sweden.
