Another leader of Alberta Health Services has left their position. A memo from Alberta Health Services, obtained by CTV News, shows that Dr. Peter Jamieson has left his role as the service’s chief medical officer and vice-president on Wednesday. “We extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Jamieson for his service and dedication, and for his leadership in helping to refocus and strengthen the organization’s clinical priorities,” the memo said. Jamieson’s role was to oversee the operations of all Alberta’s hospitals. His departure marks the latest shakeup in the Alberta health care system since the province announced its overhaul in late 2023. “It’s (a) devastating blow,” Alberta emergency room doctor Paul Parks told CTV News on Thursday, adding that “it wasn’t planned” for Jamieson to leave. “It’s pure chaos on the front lines, and to see the leadership change again and again and again, it’s very demoralizing,” Parks said. CTV News could not reach Jamieson for comment. The memo said he would resume his clinical practice within the service. An interim leader will be announced shortly.
