Police have closed two intersections to all lanes of traffic after two separate collisions late Saturday afternoon. The intersection at 14 Avenue and 14 Street Southwest was closed to traffic around 4:30 after a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. “The pedestrian was walking eastbound and was struck by a vehicle that had a green light that was going westbound and turning to go southbound,” said Sgt. Sean Sherman with the Calgary Police Service (CPS) traffic unit. The 20-year-old pedestrian is in hospital in serious condition. Just 15 minutes later, a crash at McKnight Boulevard and Centre Street forced the closure of that intersection. “There was a vehicle southbound on Centre Street at a high speed and struck a vehicle going eastbound on McKnight,” Sherman said. Sherman said this also led to a secondary collision between two vehicles also travelling on Centre Street. Emergency Health Services say they transported three adults to Foothills Medical Centre in serious condition and one person to the Peter Lougheed in stable condition. As of Saturday evening, there was no information on how long those roads may be closed.
