Porter Airlines and Dubai-based airline Emirates have signed an agreement to expand service between the Middle East and Canada.

The agreement, announced Thursday, would provide daily service to Canadians who want to travel to Dubai. Porter flights would fly from Billy Bishop Airport in downtown Toronto to Boston or Washington. The flights would then continue on to Dubai via an Emirates flight.

Emirates currently operates only three flights a week in Toronto, between Pearson International Airport and Dubai.

Air Canada and WestJet already have agreements with Emirates, but Porter CEO Robert Deluce said that the deal offers more choices for travellers who want to fly in and out of downtown Toronto.

“I think it just basically puts more choice in front of travellers and the opportunity to tailor their own travel based on pricing, budget and whatever schedule works best for them,” Deluce told CTV News Channel on Thursday.

Porter offers up to eight daily roundtrip flights to Boston’s Logan Airport, and up to four daily roundtrip flights to Washington’s Dulles International Airport.
