Ford recalls thousands of vehicles over this issue

Ford has issued a recall for more than 14,000 trucks that could lose steering control due to a defective part.

The recall, announced through Transport Canada, affects 14,125 vehicles from the 2020 model year.

”On certain vehicles, the upper steering shaft could separate and cause a loss of steering control," the notice said.

Ford warned that a sudden loss of steering control increases the risk of a crash.

The recall included:

• FORD     F-250 SUPER DUTY    2020
• FORD     F-350 CHASSIS CAB   2020
• FORD     F-350 SUPER DUTY    2020
• FORD     F-450 CHASSIS CAB   2020
• FORD     F-450 SUPER DUTY    2020

Ford says it will contact affected owners by mail with instructions to take their vehicle to a dealership. Dealers will inspect the upper steering shaft and repair or replace it if needed.
