Users of the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, reported a spike in outages early Saturday morning, according to third-party website Downdetector. Shortly after 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time, the website was showing more than 150 reports of issues accessing the platform among Canadian users, down from a peak of more than 3,000 around 9:00 a.m. Error reports peaked at over 25,000 among U.S. users around the same time, falling to roughly 1,800 in the hours since. Earlier this week, X’s engineering team acknowledged “performance issues on the platform,” affecting some users, and said they were working to address a data centre outage. On Friday night, the team wrote in an update that issues related to the outage had persisted, notably affecting login, sign-up, notification and premium features. “Our team is working 24/7 to resolve this,” the post reads. “Thanks for your patience—updates soon.”
