Well drilling truck hits high-voltage powerlines, closes Ramara road

Emergency crews were dispatched at a single-vehicle crash on Monck Road involving a well drilling truck. It happened just before 11 a.m. on Wednesday in Ramara Township.

According to first responders, the vehicle’s drilling boom was extended and came into contact with overhead high-voltage power lines. The impact snapped a hydro pole and brought live wires down across Monck Road, creating a hazardous situation and forcing the closure of the road.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Authorities say Hydro One crews were called in to assess the damage and carry out repairs.

Power restoration and safety work continued throughout the day, requiring Monck Road to remain closed between County Road 169 and Smith Side Road.

Just after 4 p.m., all roads reopened to traffic.
