A pair of teens allegedly stole a Honda CR-V, then crashed into a transport truck on Highway 400 and fled the scene. Police say they responded to the crash on Highway 400 northbound on Wednesday at around 6 a.m. south of County Road 88 in Bradford West Gwillimbury. Police say witnesses reported seeing two of the people in the Honda CR-V had fled on foot toward Bradford right after the crash happened. Officers say they found and arrested them shortly after. While South Simcoe police officers and OPP cleared the scene of the crash—including the Honda CR-V, which was undriveable—both northbound and southbound lanes of traffic were halted. Through the investigation, officers say they learned the Honda CR-V had been reported stolen by Peel Region early Wednesday morning before the crash. A 17-year-old from Vaughan and a 15-year-old from Mississauga are facing several charges including theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failure to remain at the scene of a collision. The 17-year-old was held for a bail hearing. Police are still investigating and asking the public to come forward if they have any information, witnessed the collision or have dashcam footage.
