Town of Innisfil declares significant weather event

The Town of Innisfil says that due to the heavy snowfall accumulation on Wednesday, a significant weather event is in place until further notice.

The Town is citing hazardous winter weather with snow and ice pellets creating slippery conditions.

It advises against non-essential travel until roads and conditions improve.

A significant weather event, something Barrie is still under, means that winter maintenance standards don’t change but timelines for certain operations could be extended.

Town officials say crews are focusing on clearing primary, high traffic roads before getting to secondary and residential streets.

The region is under a yellow snowfall watch put in place by Environment Canada.
