Thousands of grade three and four students could face suspension over immunization records. According to the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, currently more than 3,741 students within that age group across the region still have records that are not up to date. Parents and guardians are being urged to check their child’s immunization records and update records by Feb. 3, 2026. Under Ontario law, families have now been mailed suspension orders that will take effect on that date if no update is received. Officials say immunizations help protect children and prevent the spread of disease and it is the responsibility of the parents to report all vaccinations to the health unit. Families choosing not to vaccinate their child are advised to speak with an immunization nurse to review the process for completing non-medical exemption.
